About Eyebrow Grafting
Eyebrow grafting is a cosmetic procedure that helps restore and enhance the appearance of the eyebrows. This procedure can benefit individuals who might have sparse or thin eyebrows due to various factors like genetics, over-plucking, accidents, or medical conditions. By using hair transplant techniques, eyebrow grafting allows for a fuller, more defined brow that complements one’s facial features.
At Wolin Plastic Surgery Center, we use the NeoGraft Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) system for hair restoration and eyebrow grafting procedures. Follicular unit extraction is a method that removes individual hair follicles without the need for significant incisions or stitches. (1) The NeoGraft device implements the FUE technique to help relocate your own hair follicles to your eyebrows to help you maintain natural, full brows. Traditional hair transplant methods often require a large incision and result in a long, linear scar on the back of the head. The NeoGraft method helps provide stunning results without requiring lengthy scars. A well-defined eyebrow can significantly enhance one’s appearance and boost self-esteem. (2)
Benefits
Eyebrow grafting has many advantages. The primary benefit of NeoGraft is that it is a non-surgical eyebrow replacement treatment. No large incisions are needed to harvest hair follicles, like in many other hair restoration processes. Under the expertise of Dr. Wolin, some of the other benefits our patients experience include:
- Natural appearances: The use of one’s own hair provides a seamless and natural look.
- Permanent results: Unlike makeup products or microblading, which may require touch-ups, eyebrow grafting is a long-lasting solution.
- Enhanced brow density: The procedure results in a denser, more aesthetically pleasing eyebrow.
- Improved facial balance: Well-shaped eyebrows can enhance the symmetry of one’s face.
- Minimal scarring: FUE leaves behind minimal visible scarring, as no linear incision is necessary.
- Boosted confidence: With enhanced appearance comes increased self-assurance, allowing individuals to feel more confident in their daily lives.
Candidates
Eyebrow grafting is commonly sought by both men and women, as both men and women can lose hair in their eyebrows. Dr. Wolin has an excellent understanding of the differences between male and female eyebrows, allowing him to tailor each procedure to a candidate’s unique goals. Any patient with sparse or uneven eyebrow hair due to trauma or excessive plucking, alopecia, or another condition affecting hair growth may be eligible for an eyebrow grafting treatment. Patients should be in good overall health, and also maintain realistic expectations for their results.
Personal Consultation
In your private meeting with Dr. Wolin, you will be able to discuss your concerns about your eyebrows and what you would like to accomplish with a NeoGraft treatment. He will examine your brows and ask about current medications, general health, allergies, and if you’ve had other treatments performed on your eyebrows. This information will help him gauge if you are a candidate for eyebrow grafting.
Once it is determined that eyebrow grafting is a good option for you, Dr. Wolin will inform you about the details of the procedure. We will create a sketch of your eyebrows to demonstrate what changes Dr. Wolin can make. He will be able to answer your questions and concerns at this time.
Our goal at the Wolin Plastic Surgery Center is to help our patients understand the details of their procedures and feel confident about their treatment plans. Before your consultation comes to an end, you and Dr. Wolin can choose a date for your procedure.

Preparation
Dr. Wolin will instruct you on how to prepare for the hair transplantation treatment and recovery period. You will want to get a good night’s rest, consume a nutritious meal, and stay hydrated. The morning of your treatment, make sure your hair is clean and dry. Do not apply harsh products to your face, and do not apply makeup. Patients should avoid anything that can increase the risk of bleeding, such as alcohol and blood-thinning medications or supplements. They should also avoid nicotine (if applicable).
Procedure
To begin your procedure, Dr. Wolin will shave the area on the back of your head, where the hair shafts are fine and delicate. This can be done carefully to allow your surrounding hair to hide it. This is a necessary step that provides us with optimal access to the desired hair follicles. We will then administer a local anesthetic.
The NeoGraft procedure involves a combination of extraction using a fine needle and the implantation of individual hair follicles into a natural brow pattern. (1) The device is a handheld wand with a small tube at one end. Dr. Wolin will place the tube over the hair follicles to remove them with suction. Once the predetermined number of follicles is removed, he will clean your skin and apply a bandage. (1)
You will receive an anesthetic around your eyebrows and on your forehead, and the skin will be cleaned and prepared for follicle placement. These follicles are transplanted to your eyebrows through a fine-needling process. (2) The whole procedure will take between three to eight hours.
Recovery
Following the treatment, the treated areas may be swollen and sore. Over-the-counter medications and cold compresses can help alleviate pain. Dr. Wolin may provide prescriptions for sensitive patients. During your recovery, you will need to be careful when washing your face. Avoid getting your eyebrows wet or getting makeup on the delicate, newly transplanted hair shafts. Patients should avoid touching any part of their face for as long as possible. After a couple of days, you will be able to return to work. Regular follow-up appointments will ensure that healing progresses according to plan.
Results
After the hair follicles have been implanted in the eyebrows, growth is a gradual process. Additionally, it is common for there to be a shedding period after 2-3 weeks. Because of this, initial results may appear uneven or sparse for the first few weeks. The new hairs begin to grow over four months and will fill in your brows naturally. After growth, patients can expect to see fuller eyebrows that enhance facial balance naturally. Results can last for years and are often considered permanent.
Corresponding Procedures
The type of hair loss that occurs through aging is often known as androgenic alopecia, and it affects nearly 50% of both men and women. (3) Although this issue is common, it can affect a patient’s self-esteem greatly. Fortunately, follicular unit extraction hair transplants are not limited to the eyebrows. Essentially any area where a patient has lost hair can be repopulated with hormone-resistant follicles from the back of the head through the NeoGraft FUE system. This is an effective treatment for both men and women, allowing them to regain their confidence with fuller, natural hair growth. For men, this can even treat thinning beards and mustaches.
Cost of Eyebrow Grafting in Scottsdale
The cost of each eyebrow treatment will differ based on the number of hair follicles needed to achieve the patient’s ideal eyebrows. After meeting with Dr. Wolin to discuss their goals, patients will receive an accurate price estimate. If you are interested in learning more about the procedure, schedule a consultation with Dr. Wolin today by submitting our online contact form or calling our Scottsdale office at (480) 945-8440.

Hair growth typically starts after 3 to 6 months post-surgery, gradually achieving full results.
Will I need future eyebrow grafting treatments?
In most cases, patients enjoy long-lasting results after hair grafting. Few may seek additional sessions based on evolving aesthetic goals.
