Candidates

Preparation

Once you have scheduled your lower facelift, you will need to start preparing for your procedure according to the instructions provided to you during your consultation. You may need to temporarily discontinue using blood-thinning medications and herbal supplements leading up to your appointment. Nicotine use should be stopped several weeks in advance, with full cessation until you have completely recovered from your procedure. Transportation home after the procedure should be coordinated, and time away from work and other social commitments should be taken to allow for adequate resting and healing. Following each of Dr. Wolin’s instructions will help you best prepare for a smooth recovery and optimal results.

Procedure

Each facelift procedure will take place at our surgical suite in Scottsdale. The procedure will begin with either the administration of general anesthesia or local anesthesia with twilight sedation to ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed. Dr. Wolin will place small incisions near the ears and temples, hiding them within the hairline to ensure any scarring is barely noticeable as it heals. He will lift and tighten your underlying facial muscles, repositioning them to create a more youthful-looking appearance. He will also remove excess skin.

Once the desired appearance is achieved, Dr. Wolin will close the incisions. The duration of each lower facelift typically lasts between two to three hours, but the exact timing can vary depending on the extent of corrections and overall complexity of the procedure.

Recovery

When recovering from a lower facelift, it is common to experience temporary side effects such as swelling or bruising around the lower face and jawline. While swelling often decreases as you continue to heal, these effects may be managed using pain medications as prescribed by Dr. Wolin. High-impact and other physical activities should be avoided for several weeks to allow your body enough time to heal properly. Sun protection should also be prioritized while there is visible swelling and bruising. Routine follow-ups with Dr. Wolin will allow him to monitor your healing progress and answer any questions you may have throughout your recovery.
